Killer - The Jerry Lee Lewis Story
NEW FOR 2010

The story of the first wild man of rock and without doubt rock n roll’s most exciting performer - from his meteoric rise to fame through hits such as ‘Great Balls of Fire’ and ‘Whole Lotta Shakin’ to his equally as fast fall from grace when he married his 13 year old cousin, back to his reinstatement as one of music’s biggest names with his triumphal return to the top in the mid 1960s when he performed at The Star Club in Hamburg.

Mid Wales Opera - Falstaff
Full of boisterous vulgarity, yet nobly magnificent Falstaff is Mid Wales Opera's latest operatic offering. Shakespeare’s Sir John, now ageing and very short of cash, pursues two wealthy wives of Windsor for their money, but does not bank on their determination to foil him. Their merry tricks lead to his come-uppance, and the chastisement of their own, too jealous, husbands. Intertwined in all is a tender love story. With Verdi’s lyrical melodies and sparkling orchestration, this opera is a joy. A true ensemble work with tricks, disguises and a love of life, Falstaff inspires the passionate admiration of opera lovers everywhere.

Mid Wales Opera is proud to announce the company debut of their new Artistic Director, Nicholas Cleobury, who, with director Martin Lloyd-Evans (Rigoletto 2005, La Boheme 2007 and The Marriage of Figaro 2009) and designer, Bridget Kimak, plans a fully staged and innovative production of Verdi’s final masterpiece. Accompanied by the Mid Wales Opera Chamber Orchestra, the band of singers assembled by Nicholas bring fantastic voices to this lyrical tale of young love and old foolishness. The opera adapted by Arrigo Boito from Shakespeare’s “The Merry Wives of Windsor” will be sung in an English translation by Amanda Holden.

Vienna Festival Ballet presents - Sleeping Beauty
Celebrating 30 years, Vienna Festival Ballet presents Sleeping Beauty
Music by Tchaikovsky

Vienna Festival Ballet returns with their traditional, enchanting production of The Sleeping Beauty. A classic fairy tale set to Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score, stunning choreography, beautiful costumes, all combine to portray the struggle between good and evil. Incensed at being snubbed at the christening of Princess Aurora, the wicked fairy Carabosse lays a curse on the child, proclaiming that she will one day pierce her finger - and die. But the Lilac Fairy intervenes, and when the fateful day arrives, the princess and the entire palace instead fall into a deep sleep. A century later, Prince Florimund is guided to the castle by the Lilac Fairy, overcoming the obstacles created by Carabosse, and awakening the sleeping princess with a kiss. It is love at first sight, the palace awakes and a parade of fairytale characters attends the royal wedding.

A gorgeous Tchaikovsky score, classic Petipa choreography, an enchanting fairytale.
