Celebrating 30 years since the iconic ‘PULSE' tour, this highly authentic show recreates the atmo
Experience a sensation as part of new Fairest Isle Festival of early music tunes of the 16th-18th centuries, as we present Europe's hottest early music act, the ‘wild Scandinavian Alehouse Boys’, Barokksolistene. Dive into the sublime and wonderfully funky world of Henry Purcell in a raucous 17th-century tavern setting with dances, unsuitable songs, contests, and perhaps even a friendly scuffle in this unforgettable celebration of music and culture
The Norwegian-based ensemble Barokksolistene, established by baroque violinist Bjarte Eike in 2005, is recognized as one of the world’s most dynamic and exciting ensembles in the field of historically informed performance. Eike and Barokksolistene are known for their distinctive combination of musical virtuosity and flawless ensemble playing. Through their explorations of folk music, dance, storytelling and improvisation they have created unique concert performances that draw full houses in venues all over the world.
This “The Alehouse Sessions” show, with its humoristic exploration of cultural life in Cromwell’s London, was filmed for the BBC and premiered in April 2023.
